Publication Date : 2002

Geography : Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
Description : This raster landcover dataset was derived using an object-based classification from Landsat satellite imagery (2002 and 2000) and ancillary thematic data from the Natural Resource and Values Information System (NRVIS). The method is considered a modified Southern Ontario Land Resource Information System (SOLRIS) approach using a combination of spectral, textural, and proximity techniques. The overall classification accuracy is approximately 80% and the minimum mapping unit is approximately 1 hectare. The pixel size is 15 metres x 15 metres. This layer contains 16 classifications that can be identified using the "Desc" attribute field.
